The phrase “lonely at the top” describes the situation that is being faced by many in the highest management positions. The Executives’ Global Network (EGN), a confidential peer network for executives, conducted a survey in 2019 in Singapore, which revealed that 30% of senior executives experienced feelings of executive loneliness. That figure has more than doubled to 59% in December 2020, given the fact that senior executives are experiencing feelings of isolation as a result of the pandemic. Furthermore, more than 80% of them are reluctant to talk about challenges related to their mental health in a corporate environment.
